Negaunee Township, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The National Weather Service office in Negaunee Township says high winds in yesterday’s storms were responsible for most of the damage reported in the west and central U.P.

The storms moved into the U.P. from Minnesota and moved relatively swiftly east across the region.

The strongest wind gusts reported in the region were over 60 mph at the town of Freda, about 15 miles west of Houghton.

Kearsarge, also in Houghton County, reported 2.1 inches of rain.
