Two Ishpeming Men Killed In Plane Crash

Marquette County, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Traffic Safety Board are working to determine the cause of the crash of a small plane last night in Marquette County that killed two people.

It happened just after 8:00 p.m. in Ely Township, near a grassy runway located by County Road CD.

Investigators say 49-year-old Dean Honkala and 48-year-old William Brewer, both of Ishpeming, were killed in the crash.

The plane was an Aeronca 11-AC two-seat small aircraft.

It is not known at this time which of the two men was the pilot, and further information will be released as the investigation continues.
