Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Gwinn man is facing felony charges following a domestic violence incident.

42-year-old Steven Devalle was arrested for allegedly choking his girlfriend early Tuesday morning.

He was taken into custody after his truck was found crashed into the woods along US-41 at Perkins 30.5 Road.

He had been hospitalized in Delta County for injuries and was arrested at the hospital and transferred to the Marquette County Jail.

Police had been called to a Forsyth Township home about a domestic assault and a possible suicidal subject.

Devalle’s girlfriend told police he had tried to choke her and then prevented her from calling 9-1-1.

She was able to escape and call authorities, and that’s when Devalle fled from the scene and later crashed his truck.

He is charged with one count of Assault by Strangulation, a 10 year felony, and Interfering with Electronic Communications, a 2 year felony.
