Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A two vehicle accident in Marquette Township last night injured one person.

State Police at the Negaunee Post say the accident happened just after 8:00 p.m. on U.S. 41 at Brickyard Road in Marquette Township.

Troopers say a 2006 Ford Focus, driven by 28-year-old Shannon Stieg of Marquette, pulled out to head east on the highway from Brickyard Road.

The vehicle lost traction and slid into the westbound passing lane into the path of an oncoming 1999 Chevy Blazer driven by 21-year-old Heidi Kievit of Negaunee. Stieg sustained some minor injuries and was taken to UP Health System – Marquette for treatment.

Kievit was not injured. Stieg was found to be at fault and was ticketed for ‘failure to yield’.
