L’Anse, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police at the Calumet Post have released more information about a Baraga County vehicle-pedestrian accident that claimed the life of one person.

It happened Saturday around 3:30 a.m. when a person lying in the roadway on Second Sand Beach Road, near Pequaming Road in L’anse Township, was hit by a passing motorist.

Reports say two vehicles were traveling on Second Sand Beach Road in foggy and poorly lit conditions.

The first vehicle, driven by a 19-year-old L’Anse resident, swerved to miss the man, but a second vehicle, driven by a 20-year-old Baraga man, hit the man lying in the road.

The driver stopped and called 9-1-1 and stayed at the scene. The pedestrian, a 44-year-old L’Anse man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
