Three Hurt In Marquette County Crash

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash yesterday afternoon in Marquette Township.

    The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 1:20 p.m. on County Road 550 just south of Middle Island Point Road.

    Deputies say a southbound SUV, driven by a 77-year-old Janice McLean of Marquette, swerved into the northbound lane and struck an oncoming sedan driven by a 49-year-old Richard Lapine of Marquette.

    Lapine had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to UP Health System-Marquette.

    A passenger in the sedan, 54-year-old Grant Newby of Marquette, and McLean were also hospitalized.

    All had non-life threatening injuries.

    McLean was found to be at fault and was ticketed for Careless Driving.
