Strong Storms Hit Upper Michigan

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Strong storms that moved across the central U.P. yesterday afternoon resulted in a pair of reported tornadoes.

    According to the National Weather Service in Negaunee Township, the first apparent tornado touched down near the Marquette/Baraga County line.

    Damage included snapped White Pine trees 12-18″ in diameter.

    The second tornado touched down near County Road 476 just south of the Greenwood Reservoir in Marquette County, traveled east, then lifted around County Road 581.

    Various downed and snapped trees were observed along this track.

    No injuries were reported.
