Ishpeming Township, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – An Ishpeming man was arrested yesterday following a standoff with police in Marquette County’s Ishpeming Township.

The incident began around 2:30 yesterday afternoon when authorities went to a home on the 2100 block of Prairie Avenue to investigate a possible armed robbery suspect hiding inside.

People inside the home did not let police into the building when they arrived on scene.

Police surrounded the building and obtained a search warrant, eventually gaining access about three hours later and the suspect, 28-year-old Kirk Michael Schultz of Ishpeming, surrendered without incident.

Schultz was wanted for an armed robbery about a month ago in the city of Marquette.

He is lodged at the Marquette County Jail pending arraignment.
