Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – UP Health System has pledged $100,000 to the effort to build a hospice house for the Central U.P. in Marquette.

The hospital formally made the pledge of support to the Board of Directors for Trillium House today.

Trillium House is an eight room, 9,000 square foot facility to be built in South Marquette to provide options for patients and families in hospice care.

The price tag for the project is about $2-point-5 million, and organizers say they will not break ground until it is 90-percent funded.

They hope to break ground this fall, but still have about a million dollars to raise.

The actual construction is expected to take nine months.
