Lansing, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – 110th District State Representative Scott Dianda is calling for continued changes in the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency following last week’s scathing audit of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

Dianda says it was good that agency Director Jeff Barnes resigned and he hopes that the new interim director will make changes at the home to ensure that veterans receive proper care and are treated with respect.

The State Auditor General’s report showed the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans lied about checking on patients who may have fallen, did not properly investigate claims of abuse or neglect and took too long to fill prescriptions.
