Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Changes are coming to the bookstore and other areas of Northern Michigan University.

The NMU Board of Trustees has authorized the university to enter negotiations with Barnes & Noble College to operate the on-campus bookstore.

A university committee recently selected Barnes & Noble from three vendors that submitted proposals last fall.

University officials say the decision comes as 11 of Michigan’s public universities have already shifted their on-campus bookstores to external providers in response to market changes.

In other business, the board greenlighted the designing of new academic and athletic logos for the university and approved the recently announced University Realignment Plan.
