Houghton, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A long time official at Michigan Technological University in Houghton will be retiring later this year.

Dale Tahtinen, Vice President for Governmental Relations, will retire on June 30th after 25 years of governmental work for the university.

MTU officials say they are transitioning to a new governmental relations structure to reflect changing conditions at the state and federal levels.

President Glenn Mroz says Tahtinen’s service to Tech has been exceptional.

Tahtinen says he pleased with the new structure and says it will allow MTU to continue productive relationships in Washington and Lansing.

Mroz added Tahtinen’s long lead time will ensure the transition of relationships is as effective as possible.
