Gladstone, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police at the Gladstone Post are warning area residents of a phone scam.

Troopers say the caller, with what is being described as a middle eastern accent, says he is calling on behalf of the local school’s “Education Association” and attempts to solicit funds.

Officials at the Bark River-Harris Schools say they been targeted by this scam.

They say local school boards will not call people to ask for funding and that they have other, more appropriate ways to raise money.

Troopers say to not give out any personal or financial information if you receive such a call and simply hang up.
