Lost Hikers Found In Marquette County

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Three lost hikers were safely located last night by the Marquette County Search & Rescue Team.

Rescuers were called out to Hogsback Mountain in Marquette Township around 7:30 p.m.

The County Sheriff’s Office says three sisters, 20-year-old Maria Kuopus of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and 20-year-old Bridgette Kuopus and 14-year-old Anna Kuopus, both of Ishpeming, were hiking in the area when they became lost.

The three built a fire and called 9-1-1 and were located a short time later by rescuers using GPS from the call.

They were found in good health and were escorted out of the woods without incident.
