MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Authorities in the Copper Country are continuing their investigation into a fatal snowmobile accident.
State Police at the Calumet Post say the accident happened just before 10 p.m. Friday in Houghton County’s Franklin Township.
Troopers say a 41-year-old Houghton man was killed when he rode his snowmobile under a steel cable that was located on private property. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Portage View Hospital in Hancock.
State Police say they believe alcohol was a factor in the accident. The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.
