MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – U.S. Congressman Dan Benishek is drawing criticism for his support of the Fiscal Cliff legislation negotiated in Washington, D.C. this week.
The group, Americans for Limited Government, says the Iron River Republican’s vote was disappointing and may serve to launch a challenge against him in the next election.
ALG President Bill Wilson issued a statement condemning Benishek for voting in favor of the legislation that raises taxes on those making $400,000 and more, which includes many small businesses. Wilson says Benishek’s vote to raise taxes on job creators is a recipe for higher unemployment.
Wilson added, “this vote is sad and may engender a primary challenge in 2014, and Representative Benishek will have nobody to blame but himself.”
