UPDATE – Fatal Pedestrian-Semi Accident

    Update on fatal semi-pedestrian accident MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Authorities have released an update about the investigation into a fatal vehicle-pedestrian accident last night in South Marquette that claimed the life of one person.

    Marquette City Police say 31-year-old Thomas Pizziola of Ishpeming was killed when he was struck by a southbound semi-truck around 6:45 p.m. on U.S. 41 South near the Econo Lodge Hotel.

    The driver of the semi, a 30-year-old unidentified Winnipeg, Manitoba man told police he saw Pizziola walking to the north along the shoulder of the road.   The truck driver says he crossed over to the passing lane to give the walker some extra room and that is when Pizziola crossed the road in front of the semi-truck and was struck and killed.

    The accident remains under investigation.
