Incident Involving WWII Nerve Gas, a Hoax

    Incident of reported World War II nerve gas closed Bell Hospital last night, turns out to be a hoaxMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Ishpeming City Police say an incident last night in the city involving a person allegedly being exposed to toxic nerve gas was not real.

    Reports say a call was made to authorities about a person being exposed to World War II era nerve gas and that person was directed to Bell Hospital, which was the nearest hospital.

    Police, fire and rescue personnel joined with the hospital staff in closing off access areas to the hospital by 8 p.m. in order to reduce the risk of exposure to other people.

    By about 9:30 p.m., no patient had arrived and authorities left the scene and operations returned to normal.

    The entire incident is being considered a hoax and the investigation is underway.
