MARQUETTE, MI — (Great Lakes Radio News) — Cliffs Natural Resources and the United Steelworkers Union will resume labor contract negotiations in Duluth, Minnesota on October 8.
Both parties agreed to a temporary recess from labor contract negotiations as of August 31.
Currently, Cliffs’ United Steel Workers who represented mines in both Michigan and Minnesota are continuing to operate as normal under the temporary agreement.
In a statement released by Cliffs, both parties have agreed that the union will not strike and the company will not lock out workers until 48 hours after providing written notice to the other party of their intent to be released from this no strike/no lockout commitment.
