MGH is now part of Duke LifePoint Healthcare

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette General Hospital is now officially part of Duke LifePoint Healthcare, a joint venture of the Duke University Health System and LifePoint hospitals.

The Hospital’s and Duke LifePoint’s Boards of Directors met Monday and finalized the sale of the hospital less than a week after the $483 million dollar transaction received the approval of Attorney General Bill Scheutte.

Under terms of the transaction, Duke LifePoint will invest $350 million in capital improvement projects and physician recruitment over the next 10 years. Proposed capital improvement projects include a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center, comprehensive cancer center, private patient rooms, new technology and new IT infrastructure.

Duke LifePoint also has provided funding for Marquette General’s charitable foundation, which will be used to improve health care in the greater Marquette community and under served areas of the Upper Peninsula.

Marquette General becomes Duke LifePoint’s first hospital in Michigan.
