Escanaba, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Negaunee man has been honored at activities focusing on veterans at the U.P. State Fair in Escanaba.

Tom Stanaway was recognized today by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and others at a special ceremony as the 2015 Upper Peninsula Veteran of the Year.

Stanaway served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam completing two tours of duty with the 25th Infantry Division, 32nd Armor Battalion.

Stanaway is a lifetime member of VFW Post 3165 in Negaunee and Marquette Chapter 22 of the DAV and is a member of American Legion Post 225.

Stanaway’s decorations include the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Accommodation Medal and the Bronze Star.
