59 Year-Old Drown in Menominee River Tuesday

Dickinson County Sheriffs department say 59  year-old drown Tuesday

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Police have identified the man who drowned after the raft he was on struck a large rock at Piers Gorge on the Menominee River along the Michigan-Wisconsin border Tuesday.

According to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, 59-year-old Mark Fackler of Mundelein, Illinois was trapped by the current under the rock and never surfaced. A woman who was also in the raft was able to make her way out of the rapids safely.

The man was with a group of rafters who were on a trip with Northwoods Adventures out of Vulcan when the incident occurred.
