MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – People in the western Upper Peninsula may see some active skies today as NORAD, or the North American Aerospace Defense Command, conducts exercise flights.
The military exercises will continue through this afternoon and will feature flight-based interception and identification procedures.
People in the areas between Isle Royale National Park and the Ottawa National Forest may hear and see fighter jets and other military contracted aircrafts.
NORAD has conducted exercise flights of this nature throughout North America since the start of Operation Noble Eagle, the command’s response to the terrorist attacks that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001.
