A U.P. soldier injured in Afghanistan

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – An Upper Michigan soldier is among four Michigan soldiers injured during combat operations in Afghanistan.

The Michigan National Guard says in addition to the four Michigan soldiers injured in combat, a downstate soldier was killed.  The injured U.P. soldier was 26–year old Specialist Steven Nelson of Dollar Bay.

Also injured were 29–year old Staff Sgt. Robert Drebenstedt of Charlevoix, 24–year old Specialist William Barnett of Ypsilanti, and 20–year old Private Joshua Colon of Grand Rapids.

25–year–old Army Specialist Kyle McClain of Rochester Hills, died August 1st in Salim Aka, Afghanistan, according to the Department of Defense.  He was killed by an improvised explosive device or I-E-D.
