MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A legislative effort to make high-speed internet service available to a Delta County business park to increase their competitiveness is headed to the Governor for approval.

108th District State Representative Ed McBroom and Senator Tom Casperson say the Whitetail Industrial Park in Escanaba is only the governor’s signature away from receiving $94,000 in state funding.  The two Upper Michigan lawmakers have been working to include the money in a 2012 supplemental budget bill that passed in the state House this week and now goes to the Governor for consideration.

If approved by the Governor, the state will provide the funding as a grant to the city of Escanaba.  The city would then solicit bids with construction and installation of upgrades planned to start by late fall.
