Ishpeming, Michigan – December 17, 2018 – Okay, I’ll say it; Al Quaal Recreation Area is the most amazing and under-utilized gem we have in the Western End of Marquette County.
It’s gorgeous there, with an abundance of greenery and forest and playgrounds and covered areas and picnic tables and so much more. It’s just as beautiful and useful in the winter, too.
My dad, sister, son, and nephew recently went sledding there in the area by Birchview Elementary School. It’s the PERFECT sledding area, with two big sloping hills, a easy parking, and plenty of room to walk up the sides without being in the way of other sledders. My family and I had such a great time going up and down the hills in our sleds! My sister and I definitely felt like kids again, bringing our own children up and down the sparkling white slopes.
The smiles on Holden and Titan’s faces were priceless. My dad even took a turn, a la Clark Griswold from “Christmas Vacation.” It was awesome!
We’ll definitely be back to enjoy the area several more times this winter season. Thank you City of Ishpeming for maintaining such a fantastic recreational area!
