MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)  – Marquette City Manager Bill Vajda and Marquette Mayor Pro Tem Johnny DePetro joined News Director Walt Lindala this morning for a discussion on the latest happenings with the wetland mitigation going on near Presque Isle Park.

Vajda and DePetro explained several of the reasons for the current situation and how the project had been in the works for several years.  They also brought up the fact that several public meetings had been had over the years involving the D-E-Q and their intent to mitigate the wetland for some time.

The main point they wanted to leave with concerned citizens and others is that while the work being done came on in an unexpectedly surprising way, it was in the works for several years and will work to improve the location overall.

They also instructed anyone with questions to visit the City of Marquette’s website at www.mqtcty.org to find all of the background and materials related to the project.
