NMU Wildcat Wednesday: Women In Construction

Heidi Blanck

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio) – On our latest Wildcat Wednesday, we spoke with Heidi Blanck, Associate Professor of Construction Management at Northern Michigan University, about women in construction.

Blanck explained that Construction Management, and the construction skilled trades, are currently experiencing worker shortages, and they could be addressed by getting more women into that line of work.

She said that a Construction Management degree is available to all, and you do not need to have a background in the skilled labor fields such as electrician, mason or carpentry work.

Blanck said there is an increase in young women getting into college to earn such management degrees, and Northern has many program tracks for them to consider.
