Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The majority of Upper Michigan is under a Winter Storm Warning that starts later this morning and continues through tomorrow morning. The National Weather Service says heavy snow is expected, especially in higher elevations in the usual snow belt areas in the U.P.

The heaviest snow, of more than an inch per hour at times, will fall this afternoon and evening. Travel will become very difficult. Heavy snow and patchy blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility at times. The hazardous conditions will impact the evening commute today.

As a result of this forecast, several school districts have cancelled classes for today. Here is our latest list of closures:
