Marquette Women’s Center Holding Events For Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the Marquette Women’s Center is holding some special awareness events for the public to participate in.

Kristen Olsen, Domestic Violence Program Coordinator at the Women’s Center, joined the Sunny Morning Show today to talk about what’s going on.

Olsen said they are hosting Purple Light Night tomorrow, October 17th, for people to honor survivors of and remember victims of domestic violence.

She explained that all people have to do to take part is to put out purple lights in the evening for all to see.

Olsen said they are also holding an awareness walk and vigil on Friday, October 26th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, beginning at the Marquette County Courthouse.
