Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Upper Peninsula Power Company and the Dead River Campers, Inc. have teamed up with the Lake to Lake Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area to present the 3rd annual Aquatic Invasive Species Landing Blitz this Saturday.

Katie Kern, Communications Coordinator with UPPCO, and Jim Grundstrom, President of the Dead River Campers, Inc., joined the Sunny Morning Show today to preview the day’s activities.

Kern said the educational event will focus on protecting the Great Lakes and inland waterways from harmful aquatic hitchhikers that may attach to recreational watercraft.

Grundstrom said there will be multiple presentations to educate the public on what can be done to combat the spread of aquatic invasive species by a few actions each time someone enters or exits a water source.

The event will be held at the East End Boat Landing of the Hoist Basin on the Dead River in Negaunee Township on Saturday, July 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
