Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette City Commission will be selecting a new Commissioner tonight to fill the remainder of the term of the late Tom Baldini.
The Commission will also be establishing a Parks & Rec Master Plan Steering Committee at tonight’s meeting to oversee the formulation of a five-year master plan for parks and recreational opportunities in the city.
Marquette City Manager Mike Angeli joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to discuss the Commissioner appointment process and the goal of the Parks & Rec master plan.
Angeli said the Commission will be selecting the new Commissioner from a total of six people who applied for the post.
The six are: Aaron Andres, Margaret Brumm, Jermey Ottaway, Gus Rydholm, Paul Schloegel, Dennis Smith and William Sved.
Baldini had been re-elected to a three-year term in November prior to his death in December and was serving as Mayor at the time of his death.
The Parks & Rec Master Plan Steering Committee will be charged with gathering input from various stakeholders to draft a proposed plan to present to the Commission within a one-year period.
Tonight’s meeting begins at 6:00 o’clock at Commission Chambers at Marquette City Hall.
