Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette Township Manager Randy Girard joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to talk about a few recent issues in the Township and invite all to their Holiday Tree Lighting event.

Girard talked about  available revenues to continue to provide required government services, in this case, some contracted law enforcement services from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

He said the choice was reduce or eliminate recreational services or reduce the Sheriff contract hours, which is an optional expenditure, and that is currently being looked at by the Township Board.

Girard also talked about recent complaints from some Township residents who live near the Marquette Board of Light & Power’s Energy Center on Wright Street.

He said the complaints are about noise pollution when the Energy Center is running at increased capacity.

Girard said the MBLP is working with the Township to try to alleviate the noise issue, and hopes a solution will be developed soon.

The final point of today’s discussion was the annual “Catch the Christmas Spirit” Tree Lighting Event that’s happening tomorrow in front of the Westwood Mall at 6:00 p.m. with Santa, caroling, and quite possibly, The Grinch!
