Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Lakeshore Boulevard between Wright Street and Hawley Street in the City of Marquette will remain closed until further notice.

Marquette City manager Bill Vajda joined News Director Walt Lindala today on the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike to explain the reasons for the closure.

Vajda said the road was closed during a November 11th storm, which sent large waves and pieces of the shoreline rock barrier into the roadway.

That closure was the third in nine weeks and city engineers determined the shoreline has been seriously degraded and the road sub-surface and near-road shoreline has been seriously weakened.

Vajda added that the City has reached out to Federal, State, and local partners seeking emergency support, and is working towards prompt resolution.
