Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – According to the Michigan Radio Network, Democratic U.S. Representative Gary Peters will become the new junior U.S. senator from Michigan as Peters will defeat the Republican candidate, former Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land.
With 9 percent of the precincts reporting, Peters led Land 53 percent to 43 percent.
But he was rolling to a big victory in the critical county of Oakland, and it is impossible for Land to win without winning that county.
Peters’ victory was widely expected after polls showed him pulling away from Land in October.
