Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A new area of assistance for veterans in Michigan and taking a moment to say thank you to volunteers were the focus of a visit from representatives from the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.

Agency Senior Policy Advisor Jason Allen and Deputy Director James Dunn visited the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to talk about these matters.

Allen outlined some of the new assistance programs available for veterans and their families in the state to assist with a wide variety of issues from children’s issues to heating assistance.

Dunn said they were attending a meeting early in the day with administrative staff at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette and then attending a special celebration this evening that recognizes all of the volunteers who give of their time to assist in the day to day operations at the facility.

Both Allen and Dunn agreed that the volunteers are the key components for the successful operation of the Jacobetti home and other veterans facilities around the state, and giving them that recognition is highly worthwhile.
