Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette Area Public School District is placing a bond proposal before voters on May 3rd.

MAPS Superintendent Bill Saunders joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike this week to discuss the proposal.

Saunders said the measure seeks to fund the addition of six classrooms at Superior Hills Elementary School and a new auxiliary gym as well as some other facilities upgrades.

The proposal seeks to borrow a total of $6.285 million which, according to Saunders, would serve to extend an old millage that district voters have been paying for since 1994.

Saunders added that there would be no new building construction included in the plans to have more classrooms created in the district.
