    MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The City of Marquette is one of three municipalities in the entire state taking part in a special program that rewards communities that get up, get moving and get active.

    Jon Swenson, Assistant Director of Community Services for the City of Marquette, stopped in on The SUNNY Morning Show to promote the MI Big Green Gym Blues Community Challenge.

    Jon explained Marquette is one of three communities given opportunity compete for community grants provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.  Teams compete based on how much exercise their team members record over eight weeks.  The other teams are based in Kalamazoo and Grand Traverse County.

    He also said the challenge ends June 22, 2013.   However, people who sign up today can add their estimated activity totals retroactively back to April 27th.  You also do not have to be a resident of the City of Marquette to enter.  It is open to all who are interested.
