In fact, Marquette Township manager Randy Girard reminded listeners of the 8th Day Radio show on Sunny.FM before the event how much the 6th Annual Community Day was similar to the old time Trob Fest that also occurred annually years ago.

Kids enjoyed the new kiddy park, face painting, the open ice rink, and the undeniable fun of dunking adults in the Dunk Tank on the tennis court, but they really loved the giant slide and firetrucks and other emergency vehicles.

The State police provided parents with a CD with their children’s fingerprints, voice recording, and photos so parents could leave with a complete identity kit of their child in case of emergency.

Ten hours of live music brought the perfect atmosphere for neighbors together — laid back and everybody enjoying the perfect summer day:

  • The live music kicked off with “UP Music Legends” Jim and Ray (Ray Dollar and Jim Pennell)  from Noon-3p.m. with a number of fan favorites.
  • Up next the The Flat Broke Blues Band played blues, R&B classics and original songs. The band features Walt Lindala (Guitarist/Vocalist), and Mark Johnson (Bassist/Vocalist),Mike Letts (Guitarist/Vocalist), Jim Cohen (Drummer) and Lorrie Hayes (Lead Vocalist/Harmonica).
  • Finally, from 6p to about 10p, The Reveal got the blood pumping and dancing going with their covers of classic rock. The Reveal is Jeff Green (Guitar/Vocals), Jim Peterson (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Jeff Burbey (Bass/Vocals), Dennis Boyle (Drums/Vocals), and Julie Giackino (Keyboards/Vocals).

The Marquette Township manager Randy Girard, when describing the “Catch The Vision” concept, said the event allows people all around the area to know what Marquette Township is all about while enjoying a very family-oriented event. The Marquette Township Community Day provides an opportunity for “people to get out and get to know each other” and really see what Marquette Township has to offer.
The “Neighbors Noon Out” was blended into this year’s Marquette Township Community Day. “Neighbors Noon Out” — a block party really — similar to the National Neighbors Night Out, ran from Noon to 4p.m., allowing the community and public services like the police, fire department, and EMS to meet each other with under non-emergency conditions.
