Negaunee Miners Girls Basketball VS Manistique Emeralds in Negaunee, Michigan on Sunny.FM

NEGAUNEE, MI – The Negaunee Miners faced off in a home battle against the Marquette Redettes (6-0) on Tuesday night 43-30.  The game included a myriad of turnovers from both teams, but the Redettes were able to make less mistakes en route to their sixth straight win.  Returning for her first action of the 2013-14 campaign was senior captain Rosalie Anderson.  Anderson, who had missed the first three games for the Lady Miners due to a sprained ankle is considered by coach Brandon Sager to be the team’s leader and “rock” for the team.  She was the second highest scorer for the Miners with five points behind freshman point guard Aleda Johnson’s 10.

The Lady Miners will be in action once again this Friday night on the road against Norway.  This will be the second game for Negaunee at full strength and it will be interesting to see what Coach Sager will do with his full assortment.  As has been the theme this season, the Miners are a young team with a ton of potential.  While there will be some growing pains, this team has the ability to compete for a district title at the end of the season.  Be sure to tune in this Friday night at 7:30pm (EST).  Tip-off is at 8:00pm following pre-game.  GO MINERS!
