Gwinn, MI – Tuesday, December 18th, 2018 – The Negaunee Miners faced the Gwinn Modeltowners Tuesday night where they won big time with a score of 65-41, making this their second conference win. Jesse Anderson was in Gwinn to bring all of the live action to 101.9 SunnyFM.
The began with Gwinn winning the tip-off. Negaunee was the first to get on the board, and the Miners lead just kept going up from there! Playing a half-court trap defense for nearly the entire first quarter, the Miners really kept the pressure on the Modeltowners. By the end of the first quarter, the Miners had a 22-4 lead.
The Miners didn’t slow down during the second quarter. They kept the pressure on the Modeltowners, continuing an impressive offense and keeping up their incredible defense. Negaunee increased their lead even more during the second quarter, bringing their lead to 35-9 going into halftime.
Negaunee had possession of the ball to start off the third. While the Miners kept a large lead, Gwinn did manage to get back on the board somewhat, bringing the score to a 49-22 Miners lead going into the last quarter.
Gwinn kept a nice run going into the beginning of the fourth quarter, cutting the Miners lead to only 20 points. However, Negaunee kept sinking baskets, bringing the mid-quarter score to a 59-31 Miners lead. The Miners kept the intensity up until the last minute, pulling off an impressive conference win of 65-41 over the Modeltowners.
