Negaunee, Michigan– 12/15/2017– The Miners Boys Basketball took on the Menominee Maroons this Friday night here in Negaunee. These two teams have not played against each other in over twenty years and it was a great game! Jesse Anderson and Brady Guilbault brought you all of the action on Sunny.FM.
The first quarter started off a little sloppy for the Miners but they picked up the slack and showed a lot of energy. By the end of the first, the Miners led the Maroons 23-13. During the second quarter, Menominee had a lot of trouble with traveling and their score reflected that. The Maroons only scored 7 points through out the second quarter compared to the Miners 22 points. 45-20 was the score at the half with our Miners leading the Maroons.
The second half of the game went even better than the first half for Negaunee. Almost all of the Miners scored in this game. The Maroons defense had started to weaken after the Miners started to gain a strong lead. The fouls were even in favor of Negaunee. Keagan Monroe was the top guy for the Maroons scoring 17 points, 2 rebounds, 2 saves, and 1 block. Luke Mattson was the top scorer for the Miners with 17 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 saves. Jake Ennett followed right behind him for the Miners with 16 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. 56-29 was the score at the end of the third. 72-33 and the Miners took the win over the Menominee Maroons.
