Marquette, Mi.April 4, 2018

In the late 60’s three young men met in London and made some music.

If I added just one word at this point, the article would be complete.

“America”.

If you grew up with America like I did, you have probably memorized all of their songs.

The Horse with No Name, Tin Man, Lonely People, I Need You, You Can Do Magic, Don’t Cross the River and the list goes on.

Dewey Bunnell, Gerry Beckley and Dan Peek formed America and received a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1972. Dan left the group just five years after the Grammy win , and America continued to make hit after hit.

Dewey Bunnell  will be my guest during the Workday Wind Down Thursday between 3 and 5. I invite you to tune in. Dewey is very easy going and conversational and I’m sure you’re going to enjoy him! Plus he’ll share a  few stories you might not know about…

FYI, “Horse with No Name” has been featured in movies, video games, and more. Dewey will tell us about Michael Jackson’s  creative license with the song,  America receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, future plans for the band, and his love for this part of the country. The group has been making magic for 48 years!!

America will be performing this weekend at the Island Resort and Casino in Harris and you’ll want to reserve your seats! Go to Island Resort and Casino dot com.

Join me today and everyday on  the Workday Wind Down on Sunny FM from 3-7.

Dewey Bunnell founded the group “America” with Gerry Beckley and Dan Peek in the late 60’s. Listen to the conversation Dewey and Kris shared and learn a few things about the group and the songs that are beloved by America fans throughout the country!
