Superior Arts Youth Theater Superheroes on the Run 2018 July 7th

Marquette, Michigan – Jalina McClain, Executive Director of Superior Arts Youth Theater (SAYT), talked to Todd Pazz on the 8th Day Radio Show about how SAYT’s most recent fundraiser, “Superheroes On The Run” at the Lakeview Arena July 7th.  Adults and children are encourage to participate and support the theater by dressing up as their favorite superhero of even villain and run in the event.  Jalina McClain spoke about how all the monies collected are primary put to work to allow scholarships for their acting camps and shows, so no child is left out of the opportunity to be a part of the show.   Upcoming events and productions were also discussed, including the talent show July 27th at the Marquette Blueberry Festival, and the High School Musical production coming late July and August.

On Saturday, July 7, beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing through 1 p.m., the Superior Arts Youth Theater will be hosting “Superheroes on the Run”. Events will include a kids 1-mile run, a 5k run and a 10k run on the multi-use path.

The 5k and 10k races will kick off at 9:00am and the Kids’ Run will start at 10:30am. Prizes will be awarded for Best Costume and Top Finishers.

The runs begin at Lakeview Arena and head north along the multi-use path adjacent to Lakeshore Boulevard toward Presque Isle Park. The 1-mile run will turn around before the intersection with Wright Street. 5k runners will turn around near the Dead River Bridge. The 10k race continues to and around Presque Isle before returning. Returning runners will use the multi-use path along Pine Street and finish west of Lakeview Arena.

No roads will be closed, however the public is asked to be aware of pedestrians crossing the streets.

Superior Arts Youth Theater Acting Summer Camps 2018

Center Youth Theatre (2001-2011) and Lake Superior Youth Theatre (2011-2015), we have now formed our own 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. Located in Marquette, Michigan, SAYT serves the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan and is open to youth ages 3-18 years. SAYT produces a series of performances each year ranging from variety shows and community events performances to full productions at the historic Kaufman Auditorium, Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theater, and the Lake Superior Theater Boat House.

Young people gain confidence and learn responsibility, commitment and teamwork skills that are critical to their success in school and in life.

To empower young people through performance arts, education and the creation of outstanding theatrical and musical art.
