Marquette, Michigan – American Legion Post #349 Commander Dale Ackerly presents Tina Lynch, director of nursing for the Jacobetti Home for Veterans, with a $3,806.40 donation, which will be used to purchase an EZ stand. The EZ stand will make it easier for the home’s nursing staff to move residents in a safe, comfortable and more efficient manner.
The American Legion Post #349 teamed up with the Wounded Warrior Relief Fund of Marquette County to raise the funds for the EZ stand through a variety of charity events.
Todd spoke with Former Commander of Post #349, Richard Wood, to bring you the latest from the American Legion. Recently, American Legion began to over see the Wounded Warrior Relief Fund of Marquette County. This fund was set up about four years ago in order to help the Jacobetti Home, as well as individual veterans, actives, reservists, guardsmen and retirees.
One of the American Legion’s most recent decisions was to provide the Jacobetti Home with EZ stands. With this new technology in the home, it will be infinitely easier to lift patients in or out of a bed or bathtub.
The American Legion is a non-profit organization completely made up of volunteers. One-hundred percent of what the group makes off of fundraisers goes to the Wound Warrior Relief Fund of Marquette County or individuals deemed in need of urgent care.
The American Legion also works with the community to gain more support for our hurting heroes. Recently the group was at the 29th Harley Ride in Little Lake. All the proceeds from this event went to Bay Cliff Health Camp.
Coming up, Post #349 will be at Red Fox Run on the old KI Sawyer Air Force Base for the Legions annual golf outing. This event will be hosted
August 22nd, 2015, starting at quarter to 9:00 AM with a flag raising ceremony. At 9:00 AM the event will promptly start with a live canon shot this year!
The event will be open to anyone and have a raffle to win a 60’s Packers Jersey, as well as a signed football! Raffle tickets are available at the Legion or at the outing.

To play in the event, each team of four will pay $240.00. The first thirty-six times will play on August 22nd. On the Wounded Warrior Relief website you can download a registration form for 2015 for outing or to become a sponsor. – Sponsor logos should be emailed to address on form.
