Shepler’s celebrates 70 years on the straits with Miss Margy!

Mackinaw City, MI  –  September 11, 2015  –  Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry‘s 85-foot, 281-passenger ferry, the Miss Margy launches next week.

Back in April, we brought you the story of the largest of the six Shepler’s ferries, Miss Margy. She is the second vessel to to be named after Margaret Shepler, Chris Shepler’s grandmother and the co-founder of Shepler’s.

Right now, she’s in the water at the Mackinaw City dock undergoing some finishing touches before her launch. She needs just a little more bling, so why not buy a ticket and ride the beautiful Miss Margy next week?

If you want to learn more about the Miss Margy or about the fascinating 70-year history of Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry, you can follow the progress of “Miss Margy” being built on Facebook or visit their website to order Undefeated: The True Story of How the Family-Owned Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry Service Survived And Advanced Through Three Generations, by Jean R. Beach and Dr. Don Steele.

Take a ride with Shepler’s and enjoy your crossing to the island with their Mighty Mac ride – you’ll get a whole new view of the bridge. The ride takes you up close to the giant pilings that are 543′ high. The Mackinac Bridge is 165 feet above the water so any ship in the Great Lakes can get under the 5.2 mile bridge!
