Many local GINCC members gathered for the annual dinner in Ishpeming.

Ishpeming, MIOctober 21, 2016 – Last night the The Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce (GINCC) honored local business people and volunteers last night during the 6th Annual Dinner at the Wawonowin Country Club.

About 170 people attended last night’s dinner, which is one of three fund raising events held throughout the year. Assistant Director of GINCC Ashley Geist said the dinner is a night devoted to chamber members.

“It’s a big night of recognition and thanks,” Geist said, “We only get that many members together in one room once a year, and we look forward to it.”

Several members were recognized and awarded for their accomplishments, including:shop-local-gincc-decal-3x3

The fifth award given out was Chamber Member of the Year – Steward & Sheridan, Attorneys at Law. The other awards are determined by a vote, but the Chamber Member of the Year is determined by participation of the Member in chamber events.

To receive this award, you must be a member in good standing that joined the GINCC at the gold level of membership. Throughout the year, staff from the GINCC tracks which members are serving on committees, sponsoring events, and attending events. Those members are then awarded points based on their involvement with the chamber.

“I’d like to thank Wawonowin Country Club for their help with everything,” Geist said. “It’s a very nice venue and we received a lot of compliments from members on how everything was set up.”

The night concluded with a premiere of the short film, Discover the West End, directed by the chamber. The film highlighted all the things that make the West End a special place and should be available from the chamber soon. For information on becoming a member of the GINCC, you can visit the office at 910 US-41 West in Ishpeming, or visit the GINCC website.
