Tyler Jandron can leave Negaunee knowing that he left a great legacy in Miners lore.

Congratulations to Tyler Jandron who claimed his second U.P. ABC player of the year this past week!  For four years, Miner fans have had the pleasure of watching a special player come up through the Negaunee Miners basketball program.  A player who has been to (at minimum) the quarterfinals each year of his varsity career.  A career that ended with the most points scored in a Negaunee Miners’ uniform at over 1300, and an overall record of 75-10.  After winning two straight MPC player of the year awards and a U.P. player of the year award, Jandron came into his senior season with nothing left to prove.  He failed to play like that though.  The senior point guard led his team to a 24-2 record behind 17 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals per game and put everything he had into the 2013-2014 campaign.

Jandron’s career accolades are as long as just about any Miner in the history of the town, and that is saying a lot.  He’s a four-time MPC, district, & regional champion, a three-time MPC player of the year, a two-time U.P. player of the year, a three-time MPC first-team member, and a two-time Class C All-State first-team member.

While there will surely be many more great players in Mike O’Donnell’s program, there is no doubt that he coached and we  saw a truly special player these past four years.  Whether Tyler goes on to play basketball or baseball (Yeah, he’s pretty good at that too) at the collegiate level remains to be seen, but you can’t deny that a person with such dedication, heart, and talent is bound to be successful in whatever he chooses to do.

From us here at SunnyFM and the rest of the “NegNation”, we’d just like to thank you Tyler for everything that you put into your Maize & Blue career.  It’s truly been a pleasure for my brother & I to watch you play over the past four years, and I’m sure we weren’t the only ones.

“Yay Maize.  Yay Blue.  Yay Miners, we’re always for you!”
