Definition:

1: To remove an article of wear from the body. Also, to take off the hat in greeting or as a sign of respect.

2: To rid oneself of: put aside.

Example sentence: When we arrived at the lake, it didn’t take very long for the children to doff their shoes and wade into the cool water.
